I hadn't previously heard of this "International Version" and would not be bored to hear more about it. Actually, the ISBN number is the same -- it just that one of them is written in the old digit format and one in the new digit format a prefix of is added in front of older numbers.
The last digit is different because it's a "check-sum digit" that calculates differently in the two systems. Apparently no readers yet are familiar with this "international" version.
